Call for abstracts

Abstracts for our 2027 annual conference can be submitted via the online submission platform below. The abstract submission deadline is midnight on 31st December 2026. All abstracts will be reviewed by the BNPA committee. Authors will be notified of the decision regarding their abstract the week beginning 15th February 2026.

First or presenting author of short-listed e-posters will receive a 20% discount off the course registration fee.

We are looking for abstracts for ePoster presentations on any topics relating to neuropsychiatry (max 400 words) including educational, case reports, audits and research.

Our goal is to improve health care for people with neuropsychiatric disorders in particular by developing, integrating, and distributing information and understanding of the links between brain function and human behaviour through our open learning meetings. Therefore, we invite abstract submissions from those working in the clinical and non-clinical neurosciences; we particularly welcome submissions from psychologists, specialist nurses, occupational and physiotherapists and basic scientists.

Submission Deadline

All abstracts must be submitted by 31st December 2026.

Word Limit

Abstracts should not exceed 400 words, including the title, authors, and affiliations.

Structure

Abstracts must include the following sections:

• Title: Concise and relevant to the research.
• Authors and Affiliations: Full names, primary institution, and country of each author. Abstracts without affiliations for all authors will not be accepted.
• Introduction: Brief background and objectives of the research.
• Methods: Summary of the methodology used.
• Results: Key findings or expected results.
• Conclusion: Main takeaways or implications of the research.

Formatting

• Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced. Avoid using tables, figures, or images within the abstract.
• Abbreviations should be defined on first use, and scientific names should be italicised.

Abstracts should be submitted online using the below form.

Review and Notification

All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the scientific committee. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent via email.

Prizes (Alwyn Lishman Prize x 3: £250) will be awarded to the first author of the three best abstracts as judged by the BNPA Committee and be invited to give a 10 minute oral platform presentation.

Those that are accepted for e-poster presentations will be invited to present their e-posters during our datablitz sessions at the conference (further details will follow). Accepted authors who are not members of the BNPA will be encouraged to join.
